In Loving Memory, Michael Hamilton
In Loving Memory, Michael Hamilton
(03/10/1951 – 11/25/2019)
On the morning of November 25, 2019, the United Schutzhund Clubs of America lost one of its true pioneers. Michael Hamilton had lost his battle from a long illness and now rests in eternal peace.
Mike joined USCA in 1981 where during those early years he served his club and other clubs in the Midwest as a schutzhund trainer and helper. During the 1980’s Mike and his club, the Western Indiana Schutzhund Club hosted several Spring and Fall national championships with the full support of Purdue University. In 1993, Mike received his USCA Performance Judges License (#22) with which for over 20 years he served our organization until his retirement in in February 2015. In addition to his work as a trainer and performance judge Mike’s strong drives for leadership, positioned him to serve as USCA’s President from 1996-2002 during which time we hosted a most successful WUSV Championship near Cincinnati, Ohio in 1998. During his tenure as President, Mike led the organization through turbulent times and set the organization on a path of prosperity and worldwide recognition among WUSV nations. Throughout his career, Mike’s priorities were to always put USCA first and position us to always support the very grass roots membership. To many, he was simply “a wonderful man” who gave freely to the United Schutzhund Clubs of America.
We are all saddened by his passing and express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
