Change verbiage to Sieger Show IV Addendum re: Judging at Club & Regional Shows
EB # 11-16
Motion submitted by Michele Scarberry, NBW, on behalf of the BAC, seconded by Nathaniel Roque, DOJ, to revise the verbiage of IV. Addendum to:
Officiating Judges are not allowed to judge any dog(s) at a Breed Show which they have owned, co-owned or those which have been in their possession at any time in the past 3-months prior to the event (the date of notification of the transfer of ownership shall be decisive in cases of possession). Nor will they be able to judge those dogs which reside in the same household. This revision will take effect immediately, any dogs which fulfill the criteria mentioned, may not be judged by the Judge of the respective class at a Breed Show.
Background: A performance judge cannot judge a dog/handler that lives within the same household as the Judge (exception is a National event) and cannot judge at his own dog club.
To restrict a performance judge, to not judge dogs previously owned, is far reaching for our organization. The show rule addendum is verbatim translation of SV rules.
The rule was put into effect because judges would change ownership of their dogs to be able to judge their own dog with favorable ratings. USCA has very few shows and judges, the rule is not practical in our environment.
This rule [ IV Addendum] will remain in effect as written for a Sieger Show:
- ADDENDUM
Officiating Judges are not allowed to judge any dog(s) at a Breed Show which they have owned, co-owned or those which have been in their possession at any time in the past 12-months (the date of notification of the transfer of ownership shall be decisive in cases of possession). Nor will they be able to judge those dogs which have been bred by them, as well as any dogs owned or co-owned by, or in the possession of, close relatives (1st and 2nd degree). For this purpose, the term “close relatives“ also refers to life partnerships, groups of owners and shared households. In this respect, please note that, as of immediately, any dogs which fulfill the criteria mentioned may not be judged by the Judge of the respective class at a Breed Show.
The rule change is for a Club and Regional Show; A judge cannot judge dogs that he/she owns or co-owns, but is able to judge dogs that he/she bred or had in their possession within the last three (3) months prior to the event. BAC motion carried March 26,2016. Vote result: 7-Yes, 6-no response.
