Change of H.O.T. Designation
EB #36-16
Motion: by Frank Phillips, Vice President, seconded by Dennis Vander Linde to change the H.O.T designation to the following.
Background: Due to the historical confusion over the H.O.T. designation, the following motion is proposed with the intent to clarify and simplify.
In order for a dog and handler to qualify for the H.O.T designation, the following two (2) conditions must be met:
- A handler must own the dog by twelve (12) months of age.
- A handler may prove ownership by registering the dog in the owner’s name by twelve (12) months old with USCA and/or an FCI recognized registry OR
- Should there be delays in registration, a handler may prove transfer/ownership, verified by licensed veterinarian with chip and/or tattoo identification, by submitting a completed USCA identification form by 12 months of age.
- Once the handler/owner takes possession the handler/owner must be present during all training of the dog from the time of ownership going forward.
Effective January 1, 2016
