EB Motion #16-22- Approve slate of judges for the 2022 USCA German Shepherd Dog National Championship

Motion by Nathaniel Roque, DOJ, on behalf of the USCA Judges Committee, seconded by Gary McGillivary, DAL- Judges Committee  Member, to approve the following slate of Judges for the 2022 USCA German Shepherd Dog National Championship (USCA GSD Nationals)

  1. (Tracking) – Ernst Riegle, SV
  2. (Obedience) – Nathaniel Roque, USCA. SV
  3. (Protection) – Don Yelle, USCA

Universal Sieger Competition – USCA Heidi Theis

Background:  Based on the USCA Judge Program Requirements the USCA Judges Committee has reviewed the applicants and USCA judges that are eligible to judge at the 2022 National Championship and taken into account the judges that requested to be considered for the event. Also taken into consideration was the host club’s list of requested Judges.

The Judges Committee unanimously recommends this slate of judges for the 2022 USCA GSD National Championship as qualified and able to provide an excellent and fair evaluation of each phase and performance.

Due to the change in Universal Sieger regulations and the addition of working male and female classes at Nationals, this ballot also calls for approval of a conformation judge to judge these conformation classes as part of our Universal competition.

All judges selected have either judged at Championship levels in their selected phase or have completed a birichter in that phase and judged other phases in a National Championship.

  1. A) Ernst Riegle, SV has judged many championships most recently (A) Tracking at the Universal Sieger
  2. B) Nathaniel Roque, USCA,SV, DOJ was one of the host clubs requested judges for the event and has judged all phases at championship events for multiple organizations. ( As a DOJ and member of the Judges Committee I recused myself in the discussion and voting on my selection).
  3. C) Don Yelle, USCA has judged tracking and obedience at USCA National and WDC Championships as well as all phases in multiple regional championships and completed a “birichter ” in protection at the USCA championship.

It is the intent of the USCA Judges Committee to always provide the best-qualified judges for our championship events and always attempt to use USCA Judges as our first selection. This slate of Judges includes two USCA Judges that are not only highly qualified to judge a championship event but have actively judged over the past 3 years and attended the 2022 Judges College passing the required written test with 96% or above.

The Judges Committee of their choosing may also appoint a Head Judge to be on-site to oversee the event.  The Head Judge for this event will be USCA President, USCA Judge Vadim Plotsker.  The Judges Committee may also appoint a Bi Richter in at least 1 phase of the event to continue to prepare a larger slate of USCA Judges for future Championship Events.  USCA Judges’ selection for “Bi Richter” in each phase will be made by the USCA Judges Committee based on eligible USCA Judges with the intent that they will be selected for future events.

(Per the Performance Judges’ Program (Section 16G) we will submit the Judges separately in 3 ballots.  Voting is confidential.)

The proposed slate of judges for this event are:

  1. (Tracking) – Ernst Riegle, SV
  1. (Obedience) – Nathaniel Roque, USCA. SV
  1. (Protection) – Don Yelle, USCA

Universal Sieger Competition – USCA Heidi Theis
