How to request a Bescheinigung

USA members can request a Bescheinigung through the USA Office for a dog that was imported from Germany.

In order to request a Bescheinigung, the dog must be registered with USA and the owner must be a current USA member. The Bescheinigung fee is $52 (which is in addition to the USA registration fee), and it usually requires four to six weeks to obtain the Bescheinigung from the SV Office in Germany.

In order to register a dog previously registered with the SV, the original SV pedigree (pink papers) must be submitted to the USA Office along with the $35 registration fee and any other original paperwork (i.e., scorebook, breed survey report, show cards). Once the registration has been processed and the USA registration number typed on the pedigree, all originals will be returned to the owner.

After the registration is completed, the USA Office will request the Bescheinigung from the SV and will forward it to the owner after receipt.

When registering a dog with USA, please make sure the transfer of ownership (Eigentumswechsel) section on the back of the SV pedigree is properly filled out. The previous owner must sign in column 3 on the same line as the printed name of current owner in column 2 and the date of transfer in column 1. If there are four columns in the transfer of ownership section, the current owner must sign in column 4.
