For the first time in USCA history we have a Universal Sieger and Siegerin. They are Cheryl and Kevin Nance, with their K9 partners V Chloe v Bullinger and V Vandal vom Mittelwest. The four of them will be part of the World Universal Sieger team this year as well.
The Universal Sieger/Siegerin honor is based on the dog's performance on the trial field and in the show ring.
USCA President, Jim Alloway, commented …
What a great weekend! I am proud and honored to be part of such an exceptional organization and event. Thanks to all of the participants, helpers, judges, volunteers, vendors, advertisers, and host facilities. See you all next year in St. Louis!
— Jim Alloway - USCA President
By the way, Jim celebrated his birthday last weekend. Shelly Timmerman of ShellShots caught it on video.
Click here to view it. Jim is at center in the brown vest. To his left is Stephanie Dunion, our SV Judges liason.
Shelly did the complete vidography of the event. She is well-known on the Schutzhund scene having captured the action at many regional and national events. Clifton Stommel from Perfect Recall Media did an excellent job with the event photography.
Their contact information is on the event website if you wish to purchase some of their outstanding imagery.
Andrea Duggan - New USCA Full Licensed Judge
Robert Johantgen - New USCA Probationary Judge
May 7, 2013
Andrea Duggan

Andrea with her dog.
It is my pleasure to announce that USCA Judge Andrea Duggan has completed all probationary judge's license requirements and has been awarded her full "USCA Trial Judges License" effective 5/1/2013. This has been approved by the USCA Judges Committee as well as the vote by the USCA General Board at the 2012 General Board Meeting.
Congratulations Andrea!
Based on her completion and full license by USCA Andrea will also be awarded a GSSCC License since she is a resident and member of that organization, this clears up any confusion on FCI / WUSV rule that a judge must hold license in their country of residence. Andrea will continue to hold her USCA license and when scheduled to judge at USCA events it will be under that license.
Robert Johantgen

I'm happy and proud to announce that Mr Robert (Bob) Johantgen has completed his apprenticeship to become a USCA Trial Performance Judge. Bob has been approved unanimously by the USCA Judges Committee after review of his apprenticeship and reports to receive his probationary license.
I have had the pleasure to work directly with Bob during his apprenticeship and believe that he will be an asset to our Judges College. He can immediately be scheduled for club level trials by the following contact information.

New USCA Rulebooks Released
March 20, 2013

USCA Director of Judges, Nathaniel Roque
The task of putting together our USCA Trial Rules and Regulations has been a huge undertaking, in part due to the continuing confusion due to translation between German and English as well as the subtle differences between the FCI wording and the SV.
I'm very proud of the end result that is our USCA Rulebook. I believe that it is very correct and adds a lot of clarification regarding point deductions and behavior in the trial that is evaluated by our judges. It also contains more complete descriptions of exercises than in past rule books as well as containing some common variances and guidelines pertaining to the hosting of a trial.
To keep the overall size more manageable, the rules for the RH1 and RH2 as well as the AWDF AWD Titles are contained in separate rule books , the links to these are referenced in the rule book and on the web site. This additional rule book will be posted shortly.
This document may be reviewed and, if needed, revised, in 90 to 120 days based on any editing errors that are reported.
I like to thank the German Shepherd Schutzhund Club of Canada (GSSCC), their president Dave Janzten and the GSSCC Director of Judges Doug Deacon for sharing their rule book. The time and effort that they put into clarifying the new version of the rules and writing their book saved a great deal of time in the development of our rulebook.
I'd like to thank the following members for their time and input during the final review and editing:
- Jim Alloway
- Frank Phillips
- Dennis VanDerLinde
- Sean O'Kane
- Ann Marie Chaffin
- The USCA Judges Committee - Carla Griffith, Mike Gardner, Jim Alloway
- The USCA Judges College
- Robert Johentsen (Apprentice Judge)
- Weston and Elise Kester
- Gail Kendall
To print the rule book It is currently supplied in a PDF format — a universally understood format.
This is version 1.2013. It can be printed on your personal printer or at any office supply store such as Staples or Office Max. many of them can print and bind a quality copy of these rules for your use in either a 8.5x11 or booklet version at a minimal cost. Staples has a service called PrintMe. To use PrintMe, email the file to them at
staples@printme.com and you will receive a confirmation number that can then be taken to any Staples. They will pull up the file and print it.
There will be a new Bh written exam released in the next 2 weeks that will have all questions referencing from the new rule book
Thanks for your support of USCA and the USCA Judges College!
