USA GEARS UP FOR 2008 WUSV WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

On October 9-12, 2008, the United Schutzhund Clubs of America will host the WUSV World Championships. The event, which draws top handler/dog teams from across the globe, will be held in the Greater Cincinnati area in Florence, KY. With just two years left to prepare, our organization is already hard at work to ensure the success of this exciting competition.

As part of the communications process, the WUSV committee will use this space in the Schutzhund USA magazine and the USA web site (www.germanshepherddog.com) to provide members regular and timely updates on our progress as we enter the critical planning and preparation phase for the event.

USA has selected a 5,000-seat minor league ballpark in Florence, KY, as the site for the trial. Tracking conditions, about a 10-minute drive from the stadium, will consist of 1,200 acres of grass on rolling hills. USA has just received approval from the WUSV on both the trial dates and location.

At present, USA’s WUSV committee is in the process of filling key leadership positions who will help coordinate the unimaginable number of tasks required in order for this event to be a success. We as an organization recognize that our strength lies in our members, and we are committed to rallying the troops and making sure that our every resource is tapped.>

As a first step in that direction, I have appointed Karen Groh as Volunteer Coordinator. Karen has agreed to compile a database of volunteers so that we have a large pool of talent to draw from. Karen can be reached at k9@grohaus.com or (805) 529-1005.

We are lucky enough to have a diverse and talented membership, and I encourage each person, club and region to think how they might help our organization as we undertake this honor. Big or small, every bit of support and every contribution counts.

2008 WUSV World Championship

The United Schutzhund Clubs of America is the host organization for the 2008 WUSV World Championship. It takes a substantial amount of work from our World Championship Committee to get this event organized, scheduled and confirmed and we need to start NOW! The World Championship Committee needs start up money to secure the proper venue.

At our General Board Meeting on November 3, 2005 we decided that we would do all that we can to avoid a special assessment or dues increase by asking our membership to step up and donate what they can towards the World Championship Fund. As a show of support the General Board raised nearly $3,000.00 at its’ meeting. Any amount will help; if we all gave $25.00 -less than the cost of a tank of gas- we will raise enough to make this a World Class Event.
