Directory of Breeders

Due to their overall versatility, the German Shepherd Dog has
obtained the status of being the most popular breed in the entire
world. The German Shepherd Dog is a potential “all-around” dog
and this is the declared breeding goal of our organization. Our
stated objective is not only to maintain the quality of the breed, but
if possible, to also improve the breed.
Over the past one hundred years and especially, within the United
States, too many breeds were almost ruined through careless breeding
practices. We do not want this to happen to the German Shepherd Dog.
Breeding is not a question of multiplying the dogs’ population, but
foremost, it is a question of producing dogs’ of quality.
Besides
the anatomical features, the character traits, and the versatility of
the German Shepherd Dog, our top priority is the breed’s suitability
to perform many different tasks. This should be the declared goal for
every breeding which takes place. In order to accomplish this goal,
our organization has established strict breeding regulations which
were adopted from Germany, the Motherland of this breed. Simply
stated, our endeavor is to provide quality control for the German
Shepherd Dog Breed and for you, the new owner of a German Shepherd
Dog.
Quality
control for the German Shepherd Dog begins with the selection of the
breeding stock which can be attained according to our breeding
regulations. Through our breed surveys, performance trials, and
conformation shows this selection process is achieved by means of our
expert Judges who evaluate each dog for their breeding quality. The
ideal dog is of medium size, an agile and spirited animal, of medium
weight, with a sound temperament, and a friendly disposition.
When
a litter is born, it is inspected by one of our Local Breed Wardens
who makes sure that the puppies are being housed in an appropriate
area of absolute cleanliness and that the mother and puppies are also
healthy. When the puppies are approximately eight weeks of age, they
are tattooed by a trained USCA Tattooer with a tattoo number in
accordance with a nationwide tattoo numbering system. Thereafter, the
puppies are registered with our office and each puppy receives a
pedigree which is recorded in our Breed Book.
Each
pedigree on all the registered dogs can be traced to their founding
breeding stock dating back to the year 1899. In addition, depending
upon the quality of each dog’s parents,
the young dogs will receive an
“Additional Pedigree” which is our quality control certification.
This certification is very comprehensive and overall, provides
information regarding important and extensive knowledge on each dog’s
ancestors included in their past four generations.
Within the past twenty years, there have been approximately 1300
kennel names registered with our organization. Many of the breeders
with a USA registered kennel name are still currently members in our
organization. Unfortunately, some of these breeders are not complying
with our regulations. However, litters that are bred in accordance
with our strict quality control guidelines have been identified and
are listed next to the registered kennels names.
Please consider choosing your new
German Shepherd Puppy exclusively from one of these litters.
