Advertising in the Schutzhund USA Magazine

All advertisements designed by the advertiser must come in digital format via e-mail or on disk (mailed to Cheryl Morris). Every ad will be checked to ensure that it follows Schutzhund USA advertising guidelines. In-house Design by Cheryl Morris is available.

Payment: Credit card information can be included with the e-mail, called into the office (314-638-9686 central) or a check can be sent to the USA office. Payment must be received at the time the ad is placed.

Sending by e-mail: : If sending the file by e-mail, in the subject line put “Ad – (issue & year) – your name,” example “Ad – Jan/Feb 09 – Bob Morris.” In e-mail body, explain type of file, size of ad (full, ½, ¼, etc), and form of payment (check to office or credit card number).

How to advertise in the Schutzhund USA magazine

Option 1 - Let Cheryl do it!

Send an email to Cheryl Morris at cherylmorris@ktis.net that includes all information and photos you want included in your ad. She will design it, send a proof to you, and you’re done! She will send a form to you that must be filled out with your payment information, and then faxed to Debbie Sweeney (USA office accountant) at (314) 638-0609 or emailed to Cheryl at cherylmorris@ktis.net. ALL ADS MUST BE PAID IN FULL PRIOR TO PUBLICATION!

Option 2 - Submit a complete ad in digital format

This option requires that you submit your ad in a digital format via e-mail or on disk (mailed to the USA office). All ads must be submitted with a hard-copy proof (faxed or mailed) and payment - credit card or check. If this is the option you choose, please contact Cheryl Morris at cherylmorris@ktis.net for further guidelines, prior to starting the ad.

  1. Submit files as either TIF or PDF, black and white ads as “grayscale” and color ads as “CMYK”, 300 DPI
  2. Size
    • Trim Size: 8 1/8 x 10 13/16
    • Line Screen: 133 to 150
    • Image Area: Full- 6.7/8 x 9.9/16;
    • Half- 6.7/8 x 4.3/4;
    • Quarter- 3.7/16 x 4.3/4
  3. All bleeds should extend 1/8” beyond final trim
  4. Ads not submitted camera-ready will be designed and typeset by the USA Art Director. You will be invoiced for this service.

Ad Cancellation

There will be a $15 charge for any ad cancelled more than 5 days after posted deadline. If typesetting has been completed, that fee will not be refunded.

How to pay for your ad

Other Ways to Advertise

  • Whelping Box Ads: $30.00 per litter, plus $1.00 per word if over 25 words in “Remarks” section (see below). These ads are for German Shepherd Dog litters only. The pups must be eligible for USA/SV registration, and if already whelped, their USA registration must be in process. Sire and Dam must be USA registered if residing in the U.S. Please submit your ad in the format below, via email to: cherylmorris@ktis.net

    • DUE: Whelp Date only
    • SIRE: Name, recognized titles, USA registration number
    • DAM: Name, recognized titles, USA registration number
    • REMARKS: Up to 25 words to say what you wish. Additional words are $1.00 each.
  • Straight to the Point:

Advertising Guidelines

As the official publication of the United Schutzhund Clubs of America, advertising guidelines are established by the Boards that rule the organization. All advertising must be honest and factual. The Advertising Editor reserves the right to delete or alter any misleading statement from any advertisements.

  1. Photos of vicious looking dogs are not accepted for advertising.
  2. Effective with the March/April 1999 issue, alternative breed advertising will be accepted in the AWDF section.
  3. If claim is made to a major title (such as Sieger, Bundessieger, V-A Rating, Championship, etc.) the location and year of the title must be included in copy.
  4. All ads not received camera-ready must accept the editor’s design and layout and pay the direct production charges as invoiced by the USA Office. All ads not camera-ready must by clearly typewritten.
  5. Effective with the March/April 2003 issue, German Shepherd Dogs do not need to be USA registered to advertise in Schutzhund USA.
  6. Please check all spelling throughout your ad before submitting. If in doubt, email Cheryl Morris (cherylmorris@ktis.net) and find out the answers.
  7. Check spellings on dogs listed. Proper listings include: SchH1, SchH2, SchH3, USA Pending or USF 0000, KKL1a.
  8. Make sure punctuation is consistent and overall appearance is acceptable.
  9. All checks are to be made payable to the United Schutzhund Clubs of America.
